Introduction To Safeguarding

Background:
All staff employed within a multi-agency arena have an important role to play in safeguarding children and are often in key positions to identify and respond to concerns about abuse and neglect. This course is to enable all those who come into frequent contact with children and young people to develop awareness of, and the ability to act on, concerns about their welfare and safety.

Learning Outcomes:
•    What to do if they are concerned about the safety and welfare of a child: Disclosure
•    Their role and responsibility in relation to child protection
•    Categories of abuse, signs, symptoms and referral processes
•    Introduction to the legal framework

Target Group:
For staff who have occasional contact with children, young people and/or parents/carers.

This course is for you if you have no access to safeguarding training within your own organisation.  This is not a refresher course.

Non-attendance Policy

Please note that there is a non-attendance policy currently in place. There will be a charge of £100.00 (£50.00 for half day courses) for non-attendance if cancellation does not occur 5 working days before the event or replaced by another representative from your agency. All charges recuperated will be directed back into the training budget. If you are employed outside of the London Borough of Newham, please provide the name and contact details for your finance team.
